François Truffaut once said that "Film lovers are sick people." He may have been on to something.

Shot/Reverse Shot: Episode 19A - 2012 Part 1
After a short, massive life changes-induced hiatus, Shot/Reverse Shot triumphantly returns with the first of an epic-ish trilogy of episodes in which myself and a slightly subdued Joe Gastineau - to be fair to him, it was 2 in the morning GMT when we recorded this, whereas I was luxuriating in the dim glow of late evening - dissect the year 2012. That's right, we're Hobbit-ing it.
In this episode, we talk about the big stories of the year, including what films took all the money, who had a good year (Channing Tatum) or a bad year (Tim Riggins), and a bunch of somewhat downbeat stuff like death and whatnot. Also we rant a lot about why people should stop talking about the new Star Wars film until there's some actual news about it.
This is the first episode in our new trans-Atlantic format and I think it turned out pretty well. Hopefully you all will too, and you should look forward to the remaining installments, in which we get into the contentious area of worst films and disappointments, then the laudatory fervour of listing all our favourites from the year.
As always, you can stream the podcast using the link below, or preferably (from our point of view) you can subscribe using iTunes. If you choose the later, please rate it and leave a review, because that stuff really helps us gain more lovely listeners.
